Caring Innovators

Created in partnership with the NHS and supported by Opencast, Caring Innovators challenges learners to step into the role of empathetic problem-solvers in healthcare. They explore what it means to be a caring innovator, using empathy and insight to respond to real needs. With creativity at the centre, learners develop and pitch their ideas to the NHS.

Lesson 1
Empathy Lab
Learners will research health and care, listen to people's experiences, and nderstand what they need to stay healthy and feel well. The empathy they build here will spark ideas that make a real difference to people's lives.
Lesson 2
Ideas Gym
Learners will train their brains to think like a caring innovators, to solve a real health problem. But, before they design their own innovation, they will look at some new technology that’s changing how we look after our health.
Lesson 3
Make & Mend Workshop
Innovators don’t get everything right the first time. They try, make mistakes, learn, and try again. Here in the make and mend workshop, learners will turn their idea into a real, testable prototype.
Lesson 4
Pitch to the NHS
After generating their ideas, learners will shape them into a clear and caring story to help the NHS understand the value of their innovation.
Lesson 5
Power-up
Learners will look back at how far they’ve come, reflect on progress, and take time to celebrate their wins (big and small).
